STONE, SOIL & STORIES, a group exhibition (2022)
An exhibition that originated from an intensive collaboration between D’O and Jose de Goede of Sculpture Garden and design Maastricht. An exhibition in which the unique, authentic images of Zimbabwean artists, who are represented in many important collections around the world, are combined with the pure, powerful paintings of Dorieke Schreurs.
Sculptures carved from stone and paintings made with earthy, handmade pigments from stones and strata. Manufactured in different times and continents, but connected in matter. Weathering eventually changes stone into earth, soil… There is also visual connection in the form language, large surfaces, stylized shapes, powerful lines, poetic and narrative.
reDEFINE LUXURY, a group exhibition (2021-2022)
This group exhibition in which the work of 5 makers – Dorieke Schreurs, Bronwen Jones, Studio Sufi and Saskia Tossaint – from various disciplines are shown, forms an inspiring whole. Work evolving around the dialogue about a new definition of luxury in the age of sustainability. From product-based, full of visual and material codes of abundance, wealth and status to a more holistic narrative in which process and experience become increasingly important… a redefinition of value… Redefine, rethink, reassess, revalue, regain, reconnect.
TERRA MADRE, a solo exhibition by Dorieke Schreurs (2020)
This Solo- Exhibition explores the relationship between nature and humanity.
Dorieke’s work is dedicated to the research of natural colour pigments and the expanding possibillities of material’s use, creating a foundation for sustainable development in the world of colour and art.
Through painting, photography and art-installations, Dorieke shares a pure, unconstrained and poetic vision with a symbolic tension. Her “landscapes of the soul” portray beauty in simplicity, concentrating on the essential elements of life. Close to nature, hands deep in soil.
Her pioneer work strives for a sustainable artistic practice and a meaningful experience. The result is inspirational, appeals to our consciousness and revives our sense of wonder and care for our surroundings.
